Welcome to our new website, Mayfield Mines.
This website has been created out of desperation, out of many years trying to work with various government departments, the chance of solving the mine issues without legal action is zero. Through MANY documents, photos, videos, freedom of information, and much more, I believe I can show an overall picture of Mayfield and related suburbs of systematic damage to government and private assets caused by a network of abandoned mines.
I will be looking to expose government departments for their negligence, and at times I will allege wilful negligence, where these departments have left the problem to continue to spread. If you are affected, or have experienced issues due to subsidence, water/flooding, stormwater problems, please report it on our website. We will be collating an overall map and showing the true extent of what is really going on.
The elephant in the room is legacy mines (no one owns the mines, so they fall to the responsibility of the NSW government). Through a variety of “clauses” that we will explain during our video series and in this website, many things that you believe might exist as safeguards for all of us do not exist. Whilst you might see the videos about NSW mining responsibly, what about the Legacy Mines situation? Did you know that the Legacy Mines legislation only covers public assets (or private if they are part of/influence public assets) and its up to the Minister’s discretion whether the NSW government fixes any problems. Ignore it long enough, and the people go bankrupt or pass away. Sadly, there is historical evidence that the NSW government lets these problems continue as long as possible, in a completely private and hidden capacity.
In Mayfield (and I would highly suggest in other suburbs in Newcastle), that the government and its agencies do not have a public agenda to solve the Legacy Mines issues. I suspect their “solution” is when roads collapse, just go and fill in the section with concrete and move on. Not pro-active, but, reactive.
But what happens when the network of underground legacy mines from Carrington to Mayfield join together, fill with water, and then start flowing permanently. Could this be the cause of many stormwater/hunter water pipes failing in this area? With regards to our situation, once these pipes break, they further fill the mine with water, which then flows directly through our properties. We have already collected enough evidence, but the authorises believe….nothing to see here.
I sincerely need your help and hope you can join our team to put all the pieces together – its time for accountability.
