LEGACY MINES AFFECT US ALL

Abandoned legacy mines honeycomb the Newcastle region. The authorities have completely avoided the situation, and glazed over the very serious issues of old mine workings that continue to degrade causing mine subsidence throughout Newcastle.

Maybe we have all become numb to the regular subsidence events, or, maybe the authorities have done such a great job hiding the information. What is clear, is that as a community, we can be powerful and really make a difference.

How can you help?

• talk with neighbour and check if they have subsidence or water/flooding issues. Have the reported to Subsidence Authority and what was the outcome
• post and be vocal about mine subsidence. If you have evidence, please post on your social media and tag #mayfieldmines or send the images to us to stay anonymous.
• join our facebook, instagram or youtube channels
• contact us privately to join our growing team of investigators and community group

As a team, we can make a serious difference, we just need to be completely actively until these legacy mines are treated with real action.
